Post-Jam Changes (And Quest Version Live)

Howdy all! This post is to announce that since judging for the VR Jan Jam has concluded, Monue for Oculus Quest is now live! I'm calling this version 0.12 because I have made quite a few changes to the game since I clicked "submit" that oh so long week ago. These changes include but are not limited to:

  • Fixed IK stutter (one of the more glaring problems of the Jan Jam version)
  • Fixed a bug where the Bodies constantly sank slightly due to some messiness in a FixedUpdate function
  • Added the ability to increase or decrease the current Body's altitude with the left controller's primary and secondary buttons (Up: Y, Down: X)
  • Cleaned a wide variety of sub-performant code throughout the project, leading to more stability all around

I also began creating new levels in the system and have about ten in various stages of design and development. I have not included any of them in this build but will probably throw two in along with the next one later this week. I hope also to include a PCVR version with all the changes above and added support for non-Oculus HMD's. Finally, I hope for the next build to include a fix for the "hair-in-the-FOV" problem and the "climbing-collider" problem (both of which are proving quite difficult to fix and both of which stem from the fact that I am deeply confused by the Animator component). Look forward to that in the days to come!

Monue is my first game jam submission. In fact, it's the first game-project that I have shared with people outside of my immediate circle of friends. I am deeply proud of this little game and invigorated by the reception it has been met with so far. Thanks to all who have played, rated, commented, and helped me through this first pass at it. I plan to keep tinkering with Monue until it resembles a full, polished game and I hope you will all tag along with me for that journey. Cheers!
